When we began our adoption process, several people voiced their concern of how Carson and Mary Grace would be affected by the adoption.  How would they fare?  Would they feel forgotten?  Was it unfair to thrust them into the sometimes-fishbowl-experience of life as an adoptive family?  Well, a year later, let me assure you that they’re doing just fine.  Great even.  Their worldview has broadened, and life as an adoptive/transracial family has become the norm to them… sometimes to the extent that I just have to laugh.

Case in point: Carson’s homework assignment this weekend.  He was asked to identify various things around the house made in other countries.  Without hesitation, he said he’d add Elizabeth to his list.  I pushed back a little, but he insisted.

I mean, I guess he has a point.
