A little before noon yesterday, Chai went to be with Jesus. Please pray for the Atwood family, in the days and months to come.

I have been faced head-on with the loss of several young lives over the past few months, and it has really been wearing on me. As soon as Matt called me with the devastating news about Chai yesterday, I started nailing God with all of the tough questions. “Why, God, why? This isn’t fair! I thought you were supposed to be good!” This internal struggle continued throughout the better part of the day until I came home and read a statement made by Trevor- Chai’s daddy- on Twitter. He wrote:

“Today much changed, Jesus didn’t. The gospel is true in the face of death.”

This simple yet powerful statement stopped me in my tracks and allowed me to readjust my mindset. To be ministered to by a grieving father who has just lost his son is truly a humbling experience.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
