Over dinner tonight, I remarked to Matt that if I had to sum this past year up in one word I would say change. Between the two of us, we have had a beautiful baby, quit two jobs, started one new job, graduated from grad school, started grad school, sold a house, bought a house, moved to a new state… the list goes on. However wild the ride might have been over these recent months, we both wholeheartedly agreed that we would not have changed a thing.
God has blessed me enormously this year, and I was reminded yet again this evening of a priceless truth that I have clung to this year. From the day we brought Carson home from the hospital, I have found myself so often singing to him the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Tonight, I listened with fresh ears as I sang, “Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not. As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be,” and I realized that God has made this my “theme song” of the year for a purpose.
Though the world around me is changing, my God is constant and His love for me is unwavering. Thank God for that!
